The handkerchief has been around since the dawn of time. The fig leaf so coyly used by Adam and Eve could well be considered the first. Shakespeare gave one to Desdemona in Othello in 1604, Louis the XVI decreed they should all be square 1780, and despite the introduction of the far less appealing paper version in 1956 the hanky is ready for a Renaissance. The Artkerchief is the next chapter in this long and complex history.
