A world of miniature fold out Art
Mikroworld is a brand of miniature fold out metal sculptures created by designer Sam buxton
Born in London in 1972, Buxton studied furniture design at Middlesex University before starting at the RCA in 1997.
After graduation he shared a studio "Design Laboratory" with a fellow RCA graduate, the Danish designer Mathias Bengtsson.
Now working on his own, Buxton has developed commercial projects for Kenzo, Habitat and Eurolounge as well as the burgeoning MIKRO-Man collection which is now expanding into environments with a stainless steel fold-up MIKRO-House.
He was one of the four designers shortlisted for the Design Museum's Designer of the Year award in 2004.
This fold out features Mikroman in his sleek city office doing the day job.
On-line in his office, his finger poised above the enter key of his laptop, workaday mikro-man may be about to close a deal, or he may be waiting for a call, but what's on his screen?
His office environment is typically sleek, paper-free and with ample power points.
Buxton designed this piece, the first in the series of MikroMen as his personal business card and modeled it after himself working on his home PC.
What emerged, he says, was "a miniature piece of theater."
Made in UK.
Mikro designs are not suitable for children under 12 due to small parts and sharp edges.
